Board of Education Meeting in the Savona Elementary Band Room

December 15, 2008

 

Present:           President Darrell Cornett, Vice President Tami Orcutt, Paul Seager, Greg Cacace, Craig Smith, Sara Rosplock, Thomas Hauryski

Attending:      Lynn Lyndes, Superintendent; Karole Badeau, District Clerk; Tim Allard, Business Manager; Lisa Hawken, Angela Pavlick, Joseph McKenna, Kathleen Hagenbuch, Bob Recotta

 

President Cornett called the meeting to order at 1:42 pm, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

President Cornett instructed all in attendance to turn off cell phones at this time.

 

 

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Hauryski, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education set the agenda for this afternoon’s meeting.

Superintendent Lyndes gave the Superintendent’s Report.

Timothy Allard gave the Business Administrator’s Report.

Kathleen Hagenbuch gave the Director of Instruction Report. 

Sara Rosplock gave the report from the Audit Committee report.

Angela Pavlick gave the Pupil Personnel Report

Joseph McKenna gave the Elementary Report including “Operation Greater Joy”

Lisa Hawken gave the High School Report.

 

 

 

On a motion by Orcutt, seconded by Smith, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education accepts the minutes of November 24, 2008.

On a motion by Rosplock, seconded by Hauryski, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education accepts the financial reports as presented.

On a motion by Smith, seconded by Seager, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education authorizes the Business Administrator to send a letter of intent to Matthews Buses Inc. for the purchase of four (4) 66-passenger Type C Class Con-64D buses.

On a motion by Rosplock, seconded by Hauryski, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves the following resolution:

 

WHEREAS,

The Cooperative Purchasing Service is a plan of a number of public school districts in the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES Area in New York, to bid jointly equipment, supplies and contract items, and

WHEREAS,

The Campbell-Savona Central School District is desirous of participating with other districts in the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES in the joint bidding of the items mentioned above as authorized by General Municipal Law, Section 119-o, and

           

WHEREAS,

The Campbell-Savona Central School District wishes to appoint the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES to advertise for bid, accept, tabulate bids and award bids on their behalf; therefore

 

BE IT RESOLVED,

That the Board of Education of the Campbell-Savona Central School District hereby appoints the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES to represent it in all matters relating above, and designates the Evening Sun Newspaper as the legal publication for all Cooperative Purchasing bid notifications, and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,

That the Board of Education of the Campbell-Savona Central School District authorizes the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES to represent it in all matters leading up to the entering into a contract for the purchase of the above mentioned commodities, and,

           

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,

That the Board of Education of the Campbell-Savona Central School District agrees to (1) assume its equitable share of the costs of the Cooperative Bidding; (2) abide by majority decisions of the participating districts; (3) abide by the Award of the BOCES Board; (4) and that after the award of the bid it will conduct all negotiations directly with the successful bidder(s).

On a motion by Orcutt, seconded by Seager, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves the replacement of Joni Makowiec as teacher mentor (3 teachers) with Erica Machuga (2 teachers) and Margaret Clark (1 teacher) effective November 20, 2008.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Smith, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves the replacement of Joni Makowiec as elementary ELA department Chair with Erica Machuga effective November 20, 2008.

Public Comment:  There was no public comment.

 

On a motion by Smith, seconded by Rosplock, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education appoint Joeann Meek as acting high school Principal during the parental leave of Lisa Hawken from January 2 through April 10, 2009.

On a motion by Seager, seconded by Cacace, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approve the following Committee on Special Education minutes and placements, as presented:

On a motion by Seager, seconded by Cacace, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education adjourn the meeting at 2:51 pm.
