The Board of Education toured the Savona Elementary Building at 5:00 PM and then met all new teachers to the district at 5:30 PM.

 

The meeting was called to order by President Tami Orcutt at 6:00 P.M. at the Campbell-Savona Elementary School followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

All in attendance were asked to turn off all cell phones at this time.

 

The agenda for the evening was set.

 

David DiTanna from Buffamante Whipple Buttafaro PC presented the 2008 – 2009 Audit Report.  Copies of the report shall be kept in the District Office.  A question and answer session followed the report.

 

Lynn Lyndes gave the Superintendent’s Report. 

1)     Flu discussion

2)     Governor Patterson’s proposed State Aid Cuts

3)     School Board Appreciation

Tim Allard gave the Business Administrator’s Report.

Kathy Hagenbuch gave the Director of Instruction Report.

Sara Rosplock gave a report from the Audit Committee.

Joe McKenna gave the Elementary Report.

Lisa Hawken gave the High School Report.

 

On a motion by Rosplock, seconded by Seager, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education accepts the minutes of the September 28, 2009 Regular Meeting as presented.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Cornett, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education accepts the financial reports as presented.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Cornett, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves change order GC-001 to Edger Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of $20,292.00.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Cornett, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves change order GC-009 to Edger Enterprises, Inc. in the amount of $13,961.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Cornett, and carried by all members present that the Board of                                       Education hereby sets the rate of pay for substitute teaching assistants at $65/day for the 2009-10 school year.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Cornett, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education hereby sets the rate of pay for lifeguards at $13.35/hour for the 2009-10 school year.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Cornett, and carried by all members present the Board of Education hereby establishes a Petty Cash Fund in the Savona building in the amount of $50.00 in conformance with Section 170.4 of the Commissioner’s Regulations; said funds are to be managed by Erica Ellison with standard acceptable accounting procedures and New York State Law, rules, and regulations.

 

And that upon the recommendation of the superintendent, the Board of Education hereby establishes a Petty Cash Fund in the Campbell building in the amount of $50.00 in conformance with Section 170.4 of the Commissioner’s Regulations; said funds are to be managed by Kelly Knowles with standard acceptable accounting procedures and New York State Law, rules, and regulations.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Cornett, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves change order E-001 to John Mills Electric in the amount of $39,697.00.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Rosplock, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education accepts the following appointments for the 2009-2010 school year :

 

Brooke Marusarz – Substitute Teacher in grades K-6

Kelley Wood - Substitute Teacher/TA/Cafeteria in grades K-6 

Milena Agostinho - Substitute Teacher in grades K-12.

Michael Volino – Substitute Teacher in Grades 7-12

                  Wendy Brickerhoff – Substitute Teacher Grades K-6

                  Mallory Elliott – Substitute Teacher Grades K-12

                  Karen McClure – Substitute Teacher Grades K-12

                  Karen Ross – Teaching Assistant/Cafeteria Helper

                  Claudia Putman – Substitute Bus Driver

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Rosplock, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves the following Superintendent’s Tenure Recommendations:

 

Laura Gugliotta, certificate number 2137060 in the tenure area of 7-12 Math Teacher beginning December 18, 2009.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Rosplock, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves the appointment of Meghan Taggart as Varsity Cheerleading coach for the 2009-2010 school year.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Rosplock, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves the appointment of Nicole Woodworth as JV Cheerleading coach for the 2009-2010 school year.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Rosplock, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves the appointments of Almeda Becker, Mary Bilby, and Denise Knowles as substitute teachers in the K-12 areas.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Rosplock, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves the appointments of Robert Loveless and Thomas DiMuro as co-varsity and co-modified swim coaches and Matthew Heywood as varsity assistant/diving coach for the 2009-2010 school year.

                   Wayne Beardslee – Boys Varsity Basketball

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Cornett, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education approves the Youth Basketball program for students in grades 2 – 4 and that James Feldman, Gregge Harrian, and Todd Harrian be approved as volunteer coaches for the 2009 – 2010 school year.

On a motion by Cacace, seconded by Cornett, and carried by all members present that the Board of Education accept the Internal Audit for the 2008 – 2009 fiscal year.
