Cell Phones
Please be reminded that cell
phones and other electronic devices (IPODs, MP3 players, game boys, etc) are
not allowed to be used during school hours.
Students who bring these items to school should keep them in their
lockers during the school day. Many
students are not abiding by this rule and are carrying their cell phones and
using them during the day. One of the
major problems we are facing is students
sending and receiving text messages. We
will continue to monitor this at school and ask parents to support this rule at
home by talking to their children and checking to see if they are communicating
through text messages during the school day. Remember, any student caught using a
cell phone or other electronic device during the day will have the device taken
away and their parent will have to pick it up during the hours of 7:30am-3:10pm.
A show and
dessert...
The Campbell-Savona School Drama Club will
present...Check Please: Take 2 and Check Please: Take 3.
Well-intentioned best friends force the
main characters back into the dating pool and a series of blind dates could not
get much worse for them. In Check Please:
Take 2, Guy and Girl find the dating pool filled with foot-reading
psychics, frustrated polygamists, extreme accountants,
and pirates. But are the blind dates really that unbearable?
Check
Please: Take 3 continues the
hilarity... desperate to buck singlehood, they decide that even with their atrocious blind dating track record, it's
worth another shot. But after struggling through dates with a wannabe rock
star, a vote-starved politician, and the guy who does those intense movie
trailer voice-overs, there's the inevitable question: Which is better - staying
single the rest of your life, or suffering through a series of the worst dates
in history?
Performances are Friday, April 3rd and
Saturday, April 4th at 7:30 pm in the Stephen B. Morley Auditorium.
Tickets are available by calling the box office at 527-9850. Tickets are $8.00
each and include dessert after the show.

Our District has implemented
a Wellness Policy to focus attention on the health and nutrition of our
students. Several changes have been and
will be made in accordance with this policy.
If you are interested in
learning more about our Wellness Policy, you can find a copy of it on our website
www.cscsd.org.

HEAL Club Fundraiser
Help support the HEAL Club’s
recycling fundraiser. Donate your used
cell phones, ink jets, DVD players, laptops, MP3 players, video game consoles,
digital cameras, GPS devices, digital picture frames and portable DVD players. The school will earn money by recycling these
items and all proceeds will benefit CSCS HEAL Club. If you have any questions, please contact
Chrissy Palermo at cpalermo@cscsd.org
or call 527-9800, ext. 2035.
Excuses
Please remember to send in a
written excuse when your child needs to be excused for an appointment
throughout the normal school day. If a student goes to an appointment
before reporting to school, they should bring in an excuse from the doctor. An excuse also needs to be written and turned
in to the High School Office stating the reason for an absence. Depending
on the nature of the absence, it will then be updated on your child’s
attendance record to reflect an excused or unexcused absence. A review of
excused and unexcused absence, tardiness and early departure are as follows:
a) Excused:
An absence, tardiness or early departure may
be excused if due to personal illness, illness or
death in the family, impassable roads due to inclement weather, religious
observance, required court appearances, approved college visits, approved
cooperative work programs or military obligations.
b) Unexcused:
An absence, tardiness or early departure is
considered unexcused if the reason for the lack of
attendance does not fall into the following categories (e.g., family
vacation, hunting, babysitting, hair cut, obtaining learner’s permit, road
test, oversleeping).
Student Dress Code
Since
the weather will be getting warmer, we need to remind all students and parents of
the Student Dress Code. All students are
expected to give proper attention to personal cleanliness and to dress
appropriately for school and school functions.
Students and their parents have the primary responsibility for
acceptable student dress and appearance.
Teachers and all other district personnel should exemplify and reinforce
acceptable student dress and help students develop an understanding of
appropriate appearance in the school setting.
Dress Code (continued)
A
student’s dress, grooming and appearance, including jewelry, make-up and nails,
shall:
1. Be
safe, appropriate and not disrupt or interfere with the educational
process. Items such as chains, spiked
jewelry, or any other fad or trendy item that is deemed unsafe or disruptive
with the educational process, shall not be allowed.
2. Recognize
that extremely brief garments such as “short shorts or skirts”, tube tops, net
tops, mid-drift, halter tops, spaghetti straps, plunging necklines (front
and/or back) and see-through garments are not appropriate.
3. Ensure
that underwear is completely covered with outer clothing at all times.
4. Include
footwear at all times. Footwear that is
a safety hazard will not be allowed.
5. Not
include the wearing of hats, visors, bandanas, or head coverings in the
building except for a medical, religious, or educational purpose during regular
instructional school hours.
6. Not
include items that are vulgar, obscene, and libelous or that denigrate others
7. Not
promote and/or endorse the use of alcohol, tobacco or illegal drugs, pornographic
or sexually suggestive items, and/or encourage other illegal or violent
activities.
Each
building principal or designee should inform students and their parents of the
student dress code at the beginning of the school year and any revisions to the
dress code made during the school year.
Students
who violate the student dress code shall be required to modify their appearance
by covering or removing the offending item and, if necessary or practical,
replacing it with an acceptable item.
Any student who refuses to do so, shall be subject to discipline up to
and including in-school suspension for the day.
Any student who repeatedly fails to comply with the dress code shall be
subject to further discipline, up to and including out-of-school suspension.
Book bags/large
purses
A reminder to all students
and parents that bags and purses that are large enough to hold a textbook, may
not be carried during the school day.
These bags must remain in the student locker. Small purses are permitted. The Critical Response Team considers large
bags/purses a safety issue. Several
announcements have been made during school year to remind students to keep book
bags and/or large purses in their lockers during the school day. Students who violate this school rule may be
subject to school discipline including in school suspension.
