The school year is of= f to a great start! Mr. Burns, Mrs. Potter, Mr. Allen, Trooper Newell, and I enjoy= ed meeting with students at every grade level to review important school rules= and expectations. Our meetings we= nt very well and we have been pleased with the overall level of respect and responsibility that we are seeing from our students on a daily basis.

We have been working = with students to stress the importance of arriving to their classes on time. Spot checks are taking place throughout the day at different locations of the building to ensure students are not tardy to class. Students who are in the hallways a= fter the bell rings without a pass may earn an immediate detention slip from Mr. Allen. I also can’t stress enou= gh how important it is to be on time for school. Students who arrive in ho= meroom after 8:05 are considered tardy. Once a student is tardy 5 times, they will be assigned a one hour detention. The homeroom teach= ers and I have reviewed this information with students, and I hope to see the number of tardies decreasing! If your child is assigned a detention, they will be responsible for reporting = this to you and serving the time with Mr. Allen.

This year’s par= ent-teacher conferences will be held on Friday, November 9^th from 8:00 ̵= 1; 3:00. Additional <= /span>

7^thand 8<= sup>th grade conferences will be held on Thursday, November 8^th. We look forward to meeting with pa= rents at this time of the year. Ple= ase contact your child’s teacher directly or one of the guidance counselo= rs to set up an appointment. If your child is in 7^th or 8^{th
grade and you want to meet with more than one teacher on the team, it is a =

Halloween is right ar= ound the corner. Many of you have asked about wearing costumes to school. Costumes may only be worn by students= who earn a ticket to do so by participating in a fall clean up event sponsored = by our Character Education Committee. Students will be checked at the doo= r on Halloween morning. Students w= ho do earn the right to wear a costume will receive a pass to do so. Costumes must follow the dress cod= e and may not interfere with instruction. For safety reasons, masks and weapons of any kind are prohibited.

Guidance News

It has been a busy September/October in the Guidance Office.&= nbsp; Our 7^th graders have been busily working on Career Plans = in our office as a part of the Jr. High CDOS requirements. This involves doing some career re= search using our Occupational Outlook Handbooks and answering some questions about themselves. They are doing a terrific job completing them! We have also been working on doing 8^th grade individual meetings in which we discuss progress in their current classes, future plans and classes that are available to them for next year.&= nbsp; It has been a very productive and enjoyable time for me!<= /span>

There are still confe= rence times available for parents of 7^th and 8^th graders who would like to set up Parent/Teacher Conferences with the 7^th or = 8^th grade teams. Our conferences = are scheduled for Thursday, November 8^th and Friday, November 9^=
th in the Library and Mr. Wilson’s Office. Please contact me at

Restriction List: 5 week grade reports com= e out this week and the first restriction list will be posted next week. Students are placed on restriction= if they are failing one or more subjects.&nbs= p; Students on restriction have limited passes and privileges while at school to ensure they are in their study halls and classes making up their = work and improving their grades. Students who are on restriction must attend 2 SOS sessions each week= and produce passing work for the week in order to participate in athletic conte= sts, club events, and other school-wide functions including dances the following= week. We hope our students w= ill work diligently this year to keep their names off the restriction list!

SOS starts the week of October 15^th a= nd is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00 and Wednesdays from 7:00AM-8:= 00AM in Mr. Cotter’s room. <= o:p>

Senior Passes will be delivered to seniors next week and late arrival/early dismissal privileges will start next week as well.&n= bsp; We know the seniors are looking forward to these privileges. There will be no senior lounge thi= s year due to safety concerns. To ea= rn and maintain a senior pass, seniors must have a good attendance record, be in g= ood academic standing (passing their classes), and be a productive and positive member of the Campbell-Savona community (follow school rules and expectatio= ns).

Yearbooks are on Sale!!! O= rder forms have been distributed to students.&n= bsp; To order your yearbooks, please fill out one form for each student a= nd return thee form and payment to Tom Simms by Oct. 31. Yearbook costs are:

Regular Yearbooks including Jr/Sr High School and Elementary &n= bsp; $30.00

Senior edition for 12^th graders with name stamped = &= nbsp; $33.00

Senior parents and fr= iends that are interested in purchasing personal advertisements for the yearbook may d= o so by filling out a form with Mr. Simms. These ads are for seniors only.<= /o:p>

October 12-14^th is Home= coming Weekend

The students geared u= p for the event with a spirit week and cheered on the sports teams with a PEP assembly on Friday in school. We invite all students and families to attend the Faculty/Alumni Soccer Game on Saturday at 4:00 where some of our favorite staff members will play alumni = from many different graduating classes. Our 9^th-12<= sup>th graders are also invited to a homecoming dance on Saturday at 8:00. Thanks to the student council for organizing the events for our students and community!

Winter Sports Soon to Begin

The sign-ups for wint= er sports were taken during the second and third weeks of October. Make-= up sports physicals for anyone interested in going out for a winter sport will= be October 30th. Athletes must see Mrs. Fleet to get the necessary paperwork. The winter season will see boys and girls basketball at the varsity, junior varsity and modified levels, wrestling and swimming at the varsity and modified levels, varsity boys’ basketball cheerleading and varsity girls’ basketball cheerleading. The required athlete/pa= rent athletic handbook meeting will be held on Monday November 5 for all varsity, junior varsity and modified teams at 6:00 pm in the high school gym. = Any athlete who did not play a fall sport must attend this meeting to be eligible. All parents must attend the coach’s parent team meeti= ng after the general meeting in the gym. Those meetings will start around 7:05 pm. There will be one make-up meeting for those who cannot make = the November 5 meeting and that will be on November 15 in the L.G.I. class room= at 6:00 pm.
